Spring Seems Real

After days of rain, we had a sunny day. And, for the first time this year, the signs of spring were very noticeable. The trees are budding. Daffodils are out. And the cherry trees are blooming. Guess it’s time to get the last ski days in!

$5 Breakfasts

Beyond Robson has had a good response to its call for suggestions regarding the best $5 (or cheaper) breakfast in Vancouver.

Lots of Snow at Grouse

I took a few runs on Grouse Mountain this morning. The reports are accurate — the base is still more than 400cm. Granny and Gramps might well have enjoyed it too. The snow was firm, with a couple of inches of groomed granular snow mixed with a dusting of new snow. Fast but grippable.

The views were fine today, although a thin cloud swirled around the peak. It was just what I’d expect skiing in the Coast Mountains.

Quotes of the Day

When passing some mud on the path in the Seymour Demonstration Forest:
‘Look Mama, a muddy pot pit’

When asked to give Kahlie her dinner while he was solving a puzzle:
‘Sorry, I can’t right now. I’m working.’

Brand Awareness

Abuelo will be pleased that Thomas now recognizes the connection between red and white and Kit Kat. When we pass Kia Motors on Marine Drive in North Van, Thomas is quick to say ‘Kit Kat.’ The two colour schemes are remarkably similar.

And, Thomas knows ‘word Honda.’ He learned it from our CR-V and he recognizes it around town whenever a Honda passes.
